For business

As the custodian of more than 400 hectares of publicly-owned foreshore land, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority manages a portfolio of $1.1 billion in assets on behalf of the New South Wales Government.

Our business attracts and supports local and international tourism. We contribute to the NSW economy by attracting around 40 million people a year into our two major precincts, The Rocks and Darling Harbour.

Our business generates revenue of around $140 million from more than 480 retail, commercial and other tenants across its precincts annually, and facilitates $6 billion in wealth and more than 15,000 jobs to the NSW economy.

The Authority has invested more than $130 million in revitalising its precincts, including The Rocks and Darling Harbour, since July 2005.

The Authority was formed in 1999 under the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority Act 1998 to consolidate the work and functions of City West Development Corporation, Darling Harbour Authority and Sydney Cove Authority.

In 2011, the Foreshore Authority became a division of the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure.
