ICOS1:

A Night at Sydney Opera House - Opera Australia presents "A Little Night Music"

Date: Monday 28 June 2010
Time: 19.30 - 22.15 hours
Cost: A$110.00 per person for B Reserve tickets or A$74.00 per person for C Reserve tickets.

A Night at Sydney Opera House

The deliciously sophisticated A Little Night Music is set in Sweden at the end of the nineteenth century. Three generations gather for a weekend in the country. It is midsummer, and the birch trees are suffused with the glow of a sun which never quite sets. As the husbands, wives, sons and lovers waltz through the golden night, they make life-changing discoveries about others and themselves.

Australia's own Sigrid Thornton, as Desirée Armfeldt, sings the show's biggest hit, 'Send in the Clowns'. Although this unforgettable number was made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Judy Collins it was written not for a singer but for an actress. Full of wise questions - isn't it rich? Are we a pair? - and poignant answers - well maybe, next year - it is the dramatic turning point of a musical which mixes action, words and music in equal parts.

Performed in English.
Running time: approximately two hours and forty minutes including one twenty-minute interval.

Premium, A and B Reserve tickets will be offered. Transport to and from the Opera House will be provided from designated points in the city centre and will be advised to attendees prior to the day.
